Lawson's president and CEO Harry Debes has an axe to grind. While Lawson is a salesforce.com customer, he wishes it wasn't: "Can I justify writing a million-dollar check to salesforce.com every year?" he asked rhetorically in a recent interview. "This is a check I am going to have to write forever, not just for two or three years. Is this really cost-effective?" Indeed Debes argues that salesforce.com is heading for a fall, taking the software as a service market with it.
