Wavelink Corp. has released Wavelink Avalanche Site Edition 4.8, a mobile device-management product for small to medium-sized businesses. Avalanche SE allows users to configure, deploy and secure all of their mobile devices from a central console. In addition to streamlined device management, Avalanche SE provides automated provisioning, centralized management and increased security for mobile devices, the vendor said. It offers support for all types of devices, including DOS-based units, ruggedized handhelds, wireless printers, barcode scanners, radio frequency identification readers and other embedded OS drivers. Version 4.8 contains a Web-based console for alert management. It integrates with Wavelink Communicator, providing server-less, push-to-talk functionality on mobile devices. An enhanced reporting module offers new output options for CSV and XML formats. With Avalanche SE, users get the full functionality of Avalanche Mobility Center, without the complexities of wireless infrastructure management and distributed architecture.
