Johnson Outdoors Inc., which designs, manufactures and markets watercraft, diving, marine electronics and other outdoor equipment, will use the hosted electronic data interchange software from SPS Commerce.
Johnson Outdoors will begin a total company migration to the SPS service, replacing all existing EDI software, and integrate the EDI solution with its Oracle/J.D. Edwards software. Upon completion, the rollout will connect the manufacturer to more than 100 retailers and other trading partners.
"As our business expanded and customer EDI requirements grew increasingly more complex, we concluded that a common EDI solution across our business portfolio was needed," says Jerry Perkins, president and chief operating officer at Johnson Outdoors. "We looked at the solutions currently in place across our operations, and it very quickly became clear that a hosted EDI service was more efficient and ultimately a more effective use of our resources. By outsourcing EDI operations, Johnson Outdoors can increase speed to market with new customers and react more quickly to new technologies."
Johnson Outdoors brands include Old Town canoes and kayaks; Ocean Kayak; Necky kayaks; Escape electric boats; Minn Kota motors; Humminbird fishfinders; Scubapro and UWATEC dive equipment; and Eureka! tents.
