Evergreen Line and China Shipping are launching a new transpacific service between China and the U.S. West Coast. It will be called the China/South U.S. West Coast service 2 (CPS2). The rotation is Oakland and Los Angeles on the West Coast, followed by the central and northern Chinese ports of Qingdao, Shanghai and Ningbo, before returning to Oakland. A round-trip transit will take 35 days. First vessel in the service was to be the Ever Develop from Qingdao on May 29, with a scheduled arrival of June 13 in Oakland. Evergreen is already a participant in the first CPS service, by way of a slot-charter agreement with China Shipping Container Lines (CSCL) on its Asia America Central (AAC) service. Ports called by the CPS2 service are covered by the AAC/CPS service, the line said. The new service is a response to the "booming" Asia-U.S. market, Evergreen said.
