Aberdeen Research conducted a study that examined the different roles sustainability played in the best-performing companies' supply chain management when compared to weaker companies. The best-in-class companies were found to be two times more likely than laggards to incorporate sustainability into all supply chain management processes.
Strong collaboration with suppliers was shown to increase the success of sustainability efforts. Supplier selection can also play a role in sustainability programs.
