ALK Technologies has released ALK/FleetSuite 21, the updated version of its truck fleet-management software. FleetSuite 21 employs the mapping data of PC-Miler 21 to provide visibility and control over fleet operations, including turn-by-turn directions for drivers, fleet-location displays for managers, and arrival-time notification for customers. Directions can be transmitted in varying degrees of detail to conserve bandwidth and minimize messaging costs. ALK/FleetSuite Mapping allows managers to pinpoint the precise location of their fleets, based on real-time latitude and longitude information. While a truck is underway, FleetSuite can issue an alert if the vehicle deviates by a user-defined degree from the assigned route. The tool can also maintain an ongoing estimate of a truck's arrival time at a specific destination, and generate a revised estimated time of arrival as conditions change. In a related development, ALK has introduced PC-Miler Web Services, a hosted interfacing application which provides customers with PC-Miler map data and functionality. Sharing PC-Miler's functionality via the Web, the new tool makes it easier to connect to necessary components of PC-Miler to enhance applications or system interfaces, the vendor said.
