Global Link Logistics, a logistics provider specializing in serving the North American furniture industry, has implemented transportation-management software from Amber Road. The Web-based application stores each service contract electronically, using a rules engine to describe each term and create "calculable contracts." The user can compare full bottom-line rates across multiple service contracts, modes of transport, routings and service levels. The tool evaluates all potential routings, from available bullet rates to multi-factor combinations of outport arbitraries, alternative port-to-port rates, and inlands. With the use of the new transportation-management software, Global Link claims to have realized reductions of 20 percent on time spent routing shipments, and 30 percent on auditing carrier invoices.
