SAP AG has developed a suite of support offerings based on service-oriented architecture (SOA) technologies. The initiative embraces the full lifecycle of SOA projects, from development through deployment and ongoing management. The goal, said SAP, is to make customers' transition to SOA easy and affordable. They will have access to hands-on guidance through SAP's methodology, speeding up their business-network transformation. Known as Enterprise SOA, SAP's approach focuses on linking standalone, standard applications in order to compose new, end-to-end processes. In addition, the vendor said, the strategy selectively redesigns existing processes to make rapid changes, and facilitate seamless design across company boundaries. The professional service portfolio includes a starter kit for Enterprise SOA, with step-by-step guidance for initial projects; a methodology for accelerated transition to Enterprise SOA; packaged composite implementations to address specific business problems, and value prototyping, with a high-speed collaboration platform that can create customized prototypes.
