U.S. Customs and Border Protection says that, as of February 24, it has stopped collecting tariffs recently nullified by the U.S. Supreme Court on February 20.

According to Reuters, CBP said in a message to shippers through its Cargo Systems Messaging Service that it planned to cease collection of levies enacted under the International Emergency Economic Powers Act as of 12:01 a.m. on February 24. However, no clarification was provided regarding the collection of IEEPA tariffs in the three days between the Supreme Court's ruling on February 20 and CBP's announcement.

CBP's message also said that the collection of other tariffs not imposed under IEEPA would continue. That includes newly-imposed 10% global tariffs that took effect on February 24, which President Trump had set at 15% one day after the Supreme Court's decision. The 10% tariffs were enacted under Section 122, meaning that they cannot discriminate among countries, and can only remain in effect for 150 days before requiring Congressional approval.

CBP did not address the ongoing question around refunds, despite a slew of lawsuits that have been filed since the Supreme Court first heard oral arguments in November of 2025. Most recently, FedEx sued the Trump administration on February 23, demanding a full refund of money paid for IEEPA tariffs dating back to mid-2025.
