Integris Metals Corp. has entered into a one-year contract to use Ship2Save's real-time, mobile asset tracking service.
"Our application enables Integris to track each of its trailers as they are moving from facility to facility across Canada," says Amninder Singh, Ship2Save IT director. "Bell's LBS is unique in that it provides superior urban coverage and quicker more responsive tracking capability than standard GPS tracking. The solution itself combines GPS, CDMA network triangulation and cell site location technology along with an advanced mapping front-end. It was something that really made sense for Integris."
The system, built upon Bell Mobility's Location Based Services, provides real-time tracking capability that uses the LBS network to locate and then position each mobile asset on Ship2Save's "click-enabled" maps.
Because Integris Metals already had distributed cellular phones to its drivers, the upgrade to LBS was seamless and cost-effective. Ship2Save says that tracking, using mobile phones versus fixed GPS transponders, enabled a much more flexible process model.
Integris Metals operates three dedicated processing centers and 59 branch locations across the U.S. and Canada, with the heart of company operations being the marketing of a complete line of ferrous and non-ferrous metals, and processing services.
