Savi Technology has joined with IFS Defence to provide integrated, real-time information applications to the aerospace and defense market. Savi is a vendor of technology based on radio frequency identification (RFID); IFS sells enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems. The partners will integrate Savi's RFID systems with IFS's ERP software. The goal, they said, is to improve planning, decision-making and performance when transporting assets and consignments across the extended supply chain. The integrated offering is intended to meet demands of the defense industry for improved end-to-end, in-transit visibility and delivery of consignments. Savi and IFS said they will work together on joint opportunities for new products in the defense and supplier sector, to track and optimize consignments as they move from origin to destination. Savi's SmartChain Consignment Management Solution is designed automatically to track and manage consignments with RFID tags and other types of automatic identification and data collection devices, including barcodes and sensors linked to global positioning systems.
