A new industry group has been formed to represent senior supply-chain executives around the world. The Global Supply Chain Leaders Group (GSCLG) is the brainchild of Sergio Retamal, chief executive officer of Global4PL Supply Chain Management, and Gene Tyndall, an industry veteran who has consulted on supply-chain management issues in various positions. Retamal is acting as chairman of the new group, while Tyndall is director of the executive board. According to the principals, the GSCLG was designed "to respond to the unique needs of leaders who are increasingly responsible for the profitable growth and health of their respective organizations". Individuals designated as chief supply chain officers, or the equivalent of that position, have little opportunity to interact with their peers in other organizations, Retamal and Tyndall claimed. Other professional organizations appeal more to middle managers and staff who are either midway through their careers or in beginning positions, they said.
