PINC Solutions, a vendor of asset-visibility systems, has added a Carrier View option to its Yard Hound Product Suite. Yard Hound relies on passive radio frequency identification (RFID) tags to track the location and status of trailers, trace the movement of yard trucks, and provide a real-time picture of all yard activities via a Web-based application. Carrier View extends that capability to the carriers of third-party logistics providers, allowing them carriers to view the live status, history and inventory of their assets at the customer's site with Yard Hound. To ensure data security, only assets belonging to the particular carrier are made visible. Using Carrier View, 3PL carriers can make dock appointments, set alerts based on the status of their trailers, and gain real-time visibility into assets at customers' sites, the vendor said. The full Yard Hound Product Suite includes monitoring of temperatures and fuel levels in refrigerated units, the communication of moves to yard truck drivers via an in-cab display system, and PINC Gate for check-in and check-out of trailers at the gate.
