Global Link Logistics, a provider of import logistics services to the North American home-furnishings business, has begun managing its own shipments at origin from Asia to North America. The operation is being carried out under the brand of the parent company, Golden Gate Logistics. Global Link president Gary Meyer said the change will allow the company to expand its services at origin, improve supply-chain visibility and better control customers' costs. Golden Gate has offices in Tianjin, Shanghai, Shenzhen and Hong Kong, with coverage throughout China. A network of agents in Southeast Asia provides visibility and direct access to the Global Link system in Indonesia, Vietnam, Thailand, Malaysia and other origin points. Global Link recently announced a new trans-Pacific express service called FLEX, which stands for Furniture Less Than Container Express. Designed to manage home furnishings shipments from Asia to North America, FLEX helps to reduce landed costs and inventories for North American importers while providing visibility and event management, Global Link claimed.
