QAD Inc., a vendor of software for global manufacturers, has released an Automotive Edition of QAD Enterprise Applications 2007 (QAD 2007). According to the company, the new product gives automotive suppliers the resources of QAD 2007 in an on-demand model, designed specifically for the needs of automotive manufacturers. The Automotive Edition will also include electronic data interchange (EDI) capability, and function as a completely managed service. QAD is offering the software in 90-plus countries and in more than 27 languages. In another company announcement, QAD is offering Materials Management Operation Guideline Logistics Evaluation training to automotive suppliers in Russia, China and India, the top emerging markets in the automotive industry. The training is being provided under a partnership with the Automotive Industry Action Group (AIAG). The guidelines are a global set of principles for materials processes, incorporating AIAG's Material Management Operations Guidelines and Odette Logistics Evaluation documents. They automatically score and rate suppliers' compliance levels, and identify actions needed to satisfy requirements.
