SpringCM, a vendor of workflow and document-management software, has made available SpringCM 4.0, the newest version of its core application. The technology combines document management and workflow in a single integrated product, delivered as a Web-based service. The Advanced Workflow features provide the ability to automate daily business operations such as accounts payable, contract management and new-hire processing, all through a hosted, software-as-a-service model. Users can begin with a single business process, then expand the platform to handle more complex situations. Features include automated decision processing, a graphic configuration modeler, a customizable flow-chart model, event-driven processes with automatic escalations, business activity monitoring and a business-process management rules engine, which implements best practices in high-volume, exceptions-based processing. Other new capabilities relate to the printing and scanning of documents.
