Evergreen Line is preparing to inaugurate a weekly service between ports in Asia and the East Mediterranean, with the November 7 sailing of the Ital Ottima from Shanghai. The 49-day rotation includes calls at Shanghai, Ningbo, Nansha, Hong Kong, Tanjung Pelepas, Haifa, Limasson, Piraeus, Istanbul, Tanjung Pelepas and back to Shanghai. In September, Evergreen launched an ad-hoc sailing in the Asia/Eastern Mediterranean trade; it was planning two more in October in order to cope with "booming demand" in the region. The Eastern Med ports to be called directly by the new AEM service previously were served by feeders. Growth in cargo volumes through those ports now justifies the offering of a direct service, Evergreen said. The line will also use the AEM service to connect with feeders serving other ports in the Eastern Med and Black Sea.
