TAL Apparel Ltd., one of the world's leading garment manufacturers, has adopted the TradeCard online global trade transaction management system, to increase the operational efficiency of its buying and selling operations. Data transmission on the new system has proved 100% reliable, with no lost data and no system downtime.
TAL Apparel, a member of the TAP Group, was founded in Hong Kong in 1947 and has built its reputation mainly by manufacturing shirts, blouses, trousers, men's tailoring suits and outerwear in its Asian factories, for delivery to markets in the USA and Europe. The company produces 40 million garments a year, generating revenues of US$600m and its customers include Brooks Brothers, Calvin Klein, Debenhams, Dillards, Giordano, Hugo Boss, JC Penney, Liz Claiborne, Nautica, Ralph Lauren, Talbots and Tommy Hilfiger. A continually high level of R&D expenditure has resulted in innovations that include patents for non-iron, non-wrinkle shirts, and the De-Odorant technology which protects textiles against bacteria and fungi.
TAL Apparel began using TradeCard in the middle of 2002, initially to process orders sent to suppliers and soon began to also use it with buyers. Using TradeCard, complete trade buying transactions are taken online and automated right through to financial settlement.
