Gregory L. Johnston, Sam's Club executive VP of club operations, has reaffirmed his company's belief that both the retailer and its suppliers will profit from the implementation of RFID technology. In the retail market, Johnston says that the evolutionary path of RFID technology and the Electronic Product Code is comparable to that of the barcode and the Universal Product Code in the 1970s. "Just like UPC," he says, "EPC can help all of us improve the services we provide."
