Organizations still have major gaps to plug in their business process management strategy, according to a global report.
Most have formally begun to document their processes, reaching Level 2 on the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) scale, according to the BPTrends report, sponsored by Software AG. But most have yet to scale the further CMMI levels, covering areas such as implementing an enterprise process architecture, systematically measuring performance, or improving process efficiency at the enterprise level.
This lack of maturity meant that maintaining up-to-date documentation and processes was still sporadic, limiting firms' ability to deploy BPM across the enterprise in activities such as reusing components in different implementations.
