Georgia-based software company Aptean announced June 1 that it had acquired TOTALogistix, a provider of cloud-based transportation management systems (TMS) for North American manufacturers, retailers and distributors.
The acquisition will allow Aptean to expand its supply chain offering, since the company will be given access to TOTALogistix’s platforms that support critical shipping functions such as supply chain design, procurement, freight auditing and freight brokerage. Moreover, TOTALogistix’s proprietary TMS solutions — TOTALaccess, ShipSmart and TMS2go — will be integrated into Aptean’s business, allowing the company to handle common logistics challenges from overnight delivery to cross-ocean shipping.
“In a challenging economy, TMS solutions can deliver a competitive advantage for companies by helping to reduce costs, navigate supply chain complexity and improve customer satisfaction,” said Bob Kocis, president of the Americas at Aptean. “We are pleased to add new cloud-based supply chain capabilities to our offerings and are excited to welcome TOTALogistix’s team of dedicated supply chain experts to Aptean.”
