Cargo volumes increased at the Port of Los Angeles for the third consecutive month during October when compared to the same three-month period in 2022.

The Port processed 735.775 TEUs during October 2023, a 7% increase from October 2022, when the Port processed just 678,429 TEUs.

In terms of loaded imports, the Port of LA processed 372.455 TEUs during October 2023, an 11% year-over-year increase. Meanwhile, loaded exports at the port topped out at 121,277 TEUs, a 35% increase when compared to October 2022.

The number of empty containers that landed at the port came in at 232,043 TEUs during October, an 8% decline versus the same time last year.

Through the first ten months of 2023, the Port has processed 7,123,900 TEUs, which represents a 16.6% drop-off when compared to the same period in 2022.

“Our terminal operators, labor and other stakeholders have worked hard to earn cargo market share back over the last three months,” said Gene Seroka, the executive director of the Port of Los Angeles. “Additionally, November is also shaping up to be a strong month as we see a final holiday push and warehouse replenishment.”
