Does the United States need a National Robotics Strategy?
Modern-day robots originated in the U.S. some 70 years ago, but since that time, other countries have either caught up or eclipsed American dominance in that technology. So how can the nation ensure leadership in robotics in years to come? Jeff Burnstein believes the answer lies in the formation of a detailed National Robotics Strategy, involving substantial federal involvement. He is president of the Association for Advancing Automation, or A3. On this episode, we review the six key policy provisions of the group’s proposal. But even if such an initiative is needed to keep the U.S. in the robotics race, is it realistic to call for it at a time when federal funding, workers and bureaucracies are being slashed to ribbons? Hosted by Bob Bowman, Editor-in-Chief of SupplyChainBrain.
