In the first quarter of 2009 we carried out a Transportation Satisfaction Logistics Study. Considering the present Economic climate, the results were enlightening.
We specifically asked the respondents to report on their satisfaction with their top 2 carriers, relating to 7 criteria prioritized by the respondents themselves.
Under normal circumstances the level of satisfaction with the chosen #1 Carrier should be very high. Present circumstances are not normal.
Transportation is a leading Economic indicator, and was one of the first industries affected by the global Economic crisis. Industry layoffs occurred in most transportation companies, within all departments.
The results of this study show that the levels of satisfaction within the industry were quick to react to some of the recessionary measures taken by the industry.
The impact of these reactions is being closely followed by the AGI team. Although all companies cut their staff, some companies were more judicious about their cuts, choosing to cut in departments that had the least effect on their customer base. It will be interesting to see if these companies lead the industry out of the recession.
