Make Your Content Search Engine Friendly... Make it Scream Out Loud!

June 8, 2012
David Chapman, Webrageous Studios

Let's get a few things straight from the start. Content is king. Content is one of the best ways of making your site Search Engine Friendly. All websites need to be Search Engine Friendly in this day and age, so all online business owners need to learn how to get content development right and fast.

Ask yourself the following three questions if you want your content to help you improve the effects of your online marketing:

1. Is your content top quality?
Is the content on your site what would be described as top quality content or is it just fluffy online text?

Is the content on your site written by an expert? Does your online content serve a purpose? Is it something that people will want to read? Is it a repetition of what is already out there on the Internet or is it something new, something fresh, something seen from a completely original perspective?

If the online content you offer is top quality, Search Engines will fall in love with it and Internet users will want to share it.

Reams and reams of text are not going to make your site Search Engine Friendly. Selected, deliberate, top quality content is what everyone wants and don't you forget it.

2. Will your content be useful forever?
Make your content useful. Write "How-To" articles and lists and facts and easy to digest practical tips. This is the kind of content that Search Engines love and Internet users like to read and then share.

Also, it is advisable to avoid putting dates in your content so that it remains timeless.

3. Is your content easy to read?
Reading content online is not like reading something in print. The Internet reader is less patient and not reading for pleasure. They are reading to gather facts and they want those facts fast.

"¢ Use headings or bullet points to clearly separate your content into digestible chunks.

"¢ Make sure that paragraphs are very short.

"¢ In general, avoid writing posts that are longer that 400 words because the online reader simply doesn't have the interest to read to such a degree.

If you can answer yes to all three questions above, your content will be Search Engine Friendly and you will draw more visitors to your site. Online businesses with top content equals online marketing that stands the test of time.

If you wouldn't bother to read your own content, then why would anyone else bother? If everything on your site is well worth reading, you can sit pretty and smile. You're doing a good online content development job!
