Panama is poised to expand its role as an epicenter of goods movement in the Americas. Through the enormous investment of the new third channel, the industry-friendly initiatives and future sourcing opportunities, the new logistics opportunities in Panama hold great promise for the region, the retail industry and the global sourcing landscape.

At first blush the new canal means a bigger channel that can accommodate larger vessels and more containers. Allowing retailers to leverage economies of scale and speed the flow of goods to market.

But the canal is not just a "bigger ditch."
