Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has opened a pair of new service centers, in Altoona, Penn. and Madison, Wisc. The Altoona facility features 40 doors and is located on eight acres. Initially, it will support service to nearly 75 cities within a 50-mile radius. Old Dominion has six other service centers in Pennsylvania, moving more than 1.2m tons of freight daily. The Madison center has 24 doors and will serve more than 30 cities. The company has four additional service centers in Wisconsin. The two openings are part of a $100-120m investment by Old Dominion in real estate purchases and expansion projects in 2011. Old Dominion is a national, less-than-truckload motor carrier providing one- to five-day service among six regions in the U.S., and next- and second-day service within those regions. Its four product groups are OD-Domestic, OD-Expedited, OD-Global and OD-Technology.
