The high technology industry faces a set of challenges as they look to better link service parts management and logistics execution. As t hese organizations strive to excel in delivering service to valued customers, it is important to incorporate a series of internal capabilities and tools. In Aberdeen's recent Parts research more than three-fourths (76%) of high tech service organizations stated that parts management and logistics are linked with no plans to separate these functions in the future. The need to maintain a tight integration between parts management and logistics is a key factor in providing the level of visibility and insight into service and parts demand ensuring that all stakeholders can make the right decisions in order to get the right part, to the right agent, delivered to the customer in a timely/cost-effective manner. The importance of ensuring that these aspects of the service organization are tightly linked is made even more apparent when considering that high tech organizations rated themselves just above average in regard to the level of visibility currently achieved throughout the service part lifecycle.
