The new location offers integrated rail-logistics services for customers in the steel-processing industry. The collection point for shipments from Germany is Saarbrucken, with services initially running twice weekly to the DB Schenker Railport in Survilliers-Fosses, 30 kilometers north of the center of Paris. Shipments through France are being handled by Euro Cargo Rail, a wholly owned subsidiary of DB Schenker Rail. According to DB Schenker, the new service is especially suited to the shipment of paper, as well as palleted goods such as consumer products and construction materials. DB Schenker Rail said it expects to carry up to 100,000 tons of freight on the corridor by the end of the year.
