BAX Global and Schenker, both units of DB Logistics, have joined to form direct, next-day ground service between Newark, N.J. and Toronto, Ont. The service offers improved delivery times for the BAXSaver product, for shipments of any size or weight. Working with BAX, Schenker of Canada Ltd. can now get shipments into Toronto and the greater Canadian market one day earlier, according to Scott Cairncross, vice president and national product manager for ground services. Prior to the new arrangement, customers requiring next-day delivery from the Newark area to Toronto had to send shipments via the more costly option of overnight air. The partnership between BAX and Schenker allows for the introduction of new routes, shorter delivery times and competitive rates, the companies claimed. DB Logistics is the transportation and logistics division of Deutsche Bahn AG.
