"The Case for Virtualizing your Oracle Database Deployment," by Dick Csaplar, senior research analyst for the IT infrastructure/storage and virtualization research practice, found that companies that have deployed their Oracle on virtualized servers gained advantages in application availability and reduce their overall IT expenses. From a May 2012 survey of global companies, it was found that on average, only 28 percent of Oracle database deployments are on virtualized servers. The benefits of running Oracle on virtualized servers include quicker application upgrades, easier disaster recovery, and lower power and cooling expense. "The Case for Virtualizing your Microsoft Exchange Deployment," also by Csaplar, shows that companies that have deployed their Microsoft Exchange application on virtualized servers gained advantages in application availability and reduce their overall IT expenses. Research results indicate that on average, only 44 percent of Microsoft Exchange deployments are on virtualized servers. The benefits of running Microsoft Exchange on virtualized servers include fast application upgrades, simplified disaster recovery, and reduced power and cooling costs. A final offering from Csaplar, "The UK: Early Adopter of Cloud Computing," indicates that the UK is adopting public cloud computing to a larger degree and across more dimensions than companies in the U.S. or the rest of the world. Using data gathered from UK respondents to the Aberdeen Business Review survey, it was found that an investment in public cloud computing is a higher priority for companies from Great Britain. In addition, data indicate that UK companies store a higher percentage of their corporate data in the public cloud, run a higher percentage of their corporate applications as Software-as-a-Service (SaaS), and have a higher percentage of their computing platforms outsourced to the public cloud than U.S .companies or others across the globe. "Completing the Journey to Voice and the Paperless Warehouse," prepared by Bob Heaney, senior research analyst for the supply chain management practice, focuses on the specific segment of warehouse professionals currently using, or planning to use, voice-enabled technology in the warehouse. The report examines the enhanced capabilities gained from using voice technologies, and the solutions upon which these organizations rely to ensure efficient operations and provide value to their customers. "Marketing Lead Management: From the Top of the Funnel to the Top Line," by Trip Kucera, senior research analyst for the marketing effectiveness and strategy research practice, examines lead management best practices, and finds that top-performing companies require 20 times fewer marketing responses to generate a customer vs. all other companies. These companies are also significantly more likely to utilize the full functionality of their marketing automation software. "This report shows that good leads aren't born that way, they're made," said Kucera.

"Best-in-Class companies are far more likely to have well established lead management processes in place - from the top of the funnel to sales and even back again, and the benefits of their approach are readily apparent in the performance metrics."
