Activant Solutions Inc. has created a Small Business Edition (SBE) of Activant Prophet 21 enterprise resource planning (ERP) software, serving distributors with fewer than five employees. Functionality of the new version includes order processing, accounts payable and receivable, commissions, contact management, general ledger, inventory, purchasing, and system setup and administration. In addition, distributors have access to management summaries. They can set alerts to notify them when margins drop below a specified point, or when a customer's days outstanding reach a critical point. Other features allow for the reconciliation of bank statements, calculation of landed cost, acceptance of foreign currency, and setting of tasks. The software can be expanded with optional integrated forms and fax packages. The integrated forms package allows for the customization of standard business forms, such as invoices and pick tickets. The integrated fax package allows for the faxing of invoices directly to customers.
