The report from Clean Energy Canada, a five-year-old renewable energy advocacy group, maintains that the government's reluctance to provide more backing for alternative energy is preventing the country from becoming a global leader in clean renewable energy.

"Canada needs to stop ignoring the clean energy sector. This is where the puck is going. This isn't an industry of the future, this is an industry of today," said Clean Energy Canada director Merran Smith, in the Toronto Star.
