Trade Tech’s e-shipping portal, known as Syrinx, is joining with Advent’s port-community system, eModal, to ensure that truckers can deliver containers to terminals with expedience. The goal, said the companies, is to eliminate wait times and ensure reject-free processing at the terminal gates. The SOLAS rule requires that shippers submit to ocean carriers the verified gross mass (VGM) of their containers prior to the boxes being loading aboard vessels. The joint offering from Trade Tech and Advent allows truckers to confirm the VGM transmission, or even trigger the transmission, in cases where the cargo needs to be weighed by a third-party scale before attempting to schedule a delivery appointment.
