APL Logistics is now guaranteeing on-time delivery of full containerloads from Asia to virtually any destination in the U.S., the company said. Dubbed APL Guaranteed Continental, the new service links the ports of Shanghai, Hong Kong, Chiwan and Yantian with nearly every ZIP code in the continental U.S. Shippers are guaranteed delivery of full-containerload cargo on a specified date, or they receive a 20-percent refund. The new service will provide the industry's fastest transit times between key ports in China and U.S. locations, APL Logistics claimed. Shipments from Hong Kong to Boston, for example, will take 15 days. Cargo moving under APL Guaranteed Continental will receive priority storage on the vessels of APL in Asia. At the discharge ports of Los Angeles and Seattle, containers destined for 13 metropolitan areas will be loaded onto specially designed longhaul chassis. Cargo bound for any other U.S. destination will be transloaded into domestic highway trailers at a Los Angeles-based APL Logistics facilities. Team drivers will then transport the load non-stop by truck to the consignee's door.
