Descartes Systems Group has made available Descartes CargoBooker, an electronic air-freight booking service for small and medium-sized freight forwarders. Part of Descartes' GF-X Exchange, the services allows forwarders to access air-cargo carrier information for electronic bookings around the clock, via a basic Web browser. Users get a single, Web-based point of access for carrier information such as product, flight and truck details, routing, capacity availability and rates. CargoBooker and the GF-X Exchange are part of Descartes' Global Logistics Network (GLN), a means for transportation providers to exchange key information with their trading partners. According to Descartes, carriers and forwarders can electronically manage their air-shipment lifecycles, encompassing booking, air waybills, house waybills, status messages and customs filings. In addition, the GLN helps customers to comply with Customs regulations and industry standards, such as the quality-management regimes of Cargo 2000 and e-freight.
