Cognizant, a provider of consulting, software and business-process services, has opened a global delivery center in Buenos Aires, Argentina. The new center, Cognizant's 35th, will support the company's North American customers in a similar time zone, in addition to servicing accounts in South America. Cognizant first established a presence in Buenos Aires last year, when it began providing information-technology services to local operations of Kimberly-Clark Corp. With that relationship expanding, and the addition of customers in such industries as consumer goods, retail, financial services and insurance, Cognizant decided to open the Buenos Aires office. The company's regional services will draw on the recently launched Cognizant 2.0 software suite, allowing all of its global, regional and local development centers to collaborate through a central platform. Argentina offers a substantial pool of highly educated IT talent, Cognizant said.
