A former Boeing manager recently said that he would “absolutely not” fly on one of the company’s 737 MAX jets just weeks after one of the organization’s planes suffered a midair blowout.
“I would absolutely not fly a Max airplane,” said Ed Pierson, a former senior manager of Boeing’s 737 program, in an interview with the LA Times. “I’ve worked in the factory where they were built, and I saw the pressure employees were under to rush the planes out the door. I tried to get them to shut down before the first crash.”

According to The Guardian, Pierson, who left Boeing in 2018 and is now the executive director of the Foundation for Aviation Safety, expressed concerns after regulators allowed Max 9s to return to service last week.
Boeing declined to comment on Pierson’s remarks.
