Australian supply chain consulting company GRA Pty Ltd is to begin using, as well as distributing, ORion-PIR software from German technology provider Axxom Software AG.

The initial focus of the partnership is on ORion-PIR Value Network Optimization. This application is an integrated approach to analyzing, designing and optimizing strategic network scenarios. Axxom says the application covers every relationship within the supply chain, from customer locations, production plants and distribution centers to suppliers, manufacturers and distributors. ORion-PIR also considers many constraints and restrictions, like transportation modes, capacities and CO2 emissions.

"GRA recognized the gap in the Australian market for supply chain network optimization tools," says GRA Partner Carter McNabb. "We went through an extensive global review process with 14 different vendors. ORion-PIR was the standout.
