Averitt Express has opened a new distribution facility in west Atlanta, Ga. The project doubles the amount of dock space and doors at the carrier's previous west Atlanta operation. Averitt employs 137 people at the new facility, and is seeking to fill positions for regional drivers based out of the location. The new service center features 123 dock doors, 52,000 square feet of dock space and a 35-acre lot. It is equipped with up-to-date information technology to ensure shipment visibility and efficient handling. Driver amenities include a lounge, fitness center, showers, onsite fueling stations and a drive-through truck wash. Averitt also maintains local distribution facilities in nearby Norcross and Marietta. Its total commitment to the Atlanta area includes 365 dock doors, nearly 150,000 square feet of dock space, 500 employees, 160 tractors and 650 trailers. Averitt offers less-than-truckload, truckload, dedicated fleet, time-critical, importing/exporting and supply chain management services.
