The Port of Los Angeles has opened up applications for its 2026 summer internship program, where college students can get hands-on experience at the shipping hub across a variety of potential assignments.
According to a release from the port, submissions are open through February 13, and are open to current undergraduate and graduate students. The 10-week program runs from June 15 to August 21, with interns expected to be available for in-person work between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday-Friday at administrative offices in San Pedro or Wilmington, California.
Pay for summer interns ranges between $18.33 and $25.01 an hour depending on school year, while student engineers can earn anywhere between $23.48 and $37.13 an hour. Assignment opportunities for students include engineering, construction, environmental management, and real estate among other fields, and can vary depending on interest and need. Those roles are spread across the Port of Los Angeles's divisions, from Marketing and Customer Relations to Public Safety and Emergency Management.
Applications must include an attached City of Los Angeles employment application, a Student Worker questionnaire, a student resume, and a copy of unofficial college transcripts. Students can access the employment application and questionnaire through the Port of Los Angeles at this link.
