IBM has introduced services to aid companies in adopting cloud computing technology. The company said it is offering services to companies in public, private and hybrid cloud models. IBM Global Business Consulting Services will deploy an economic model for assessing the total cost of ownership for building private clouds, as well as moving data and applications offsite to a public or hybrid model. The services will help clients to install, configure and deliver cloud computing inside the data center. According to IBM, the infrastructures of traditional data centers, built on the one-server-per-application model, are becoming too complex and expensive to maintain. Cloud computing, or network-delivered services and software, can save users up to 80 percent on floor space and 60 percent on power and cooling costs, while tripling asset utilization, IBM claimed. Cloud technology consulting services can also help clients to create roadmaps for re-constructing their I.T. environments, with the goals of improving operational efficiency, overall carbon posture and return on investment. IBM has 13 cloud computing centers worldwide. The company's research unit is working with clients to create cloud-delivered, industry-specific services, including support for lender business and healthcare processes, customer-relationship management and supply-chain management.
