Ports of Indiana is partnering with Indiana University Southeast on a logistics internship program to introduce college students to port operations.
According to a May 6 release, the program's first intern — IU Southeast sophomore and supply chain management major Jonas Powers — is set to become the program's first intern later in May. The internship will run for 15 weeks, providing hands-on experience in logistics, transportation, agribusiness and warehousing across Indiana's three major ports along Lake Michigan and the Ohio River. Powers will also work with Ports of Indiana and four port companies to better understand Indiana's role in the global freight trade.

"Indiana's logistics industry depends on a strong workforce, and that starts by helping young people see the exciting career opportunities available in our ports and supply chains,” Ports of Indiana CEO Jody Peacock said.
IU Southeast offers bachelor's degrees in business with a concentration in supply chain management, with a program centered around real-world experiences, including internships, case studies and industry projects. The SCM concentration also focuses on supply chain analytics, sustainable practices and data systems that help drive logistics decision-making.
