Amazon is expanding its "ultra-fast" 30-minute deliveries to dozens of U.S. cities, after trialing the program in Philadelphia and Seattle late last year.
According to a May 12 blog post, the company's Amazon Now service is already available in Atlanta and Dallas-Fort Worth, with plans to expand to Austin, Houston, Minneapolis, Orlando, Phoenix, Denver and Oklahoma City among others. Amazon said that it hopes to bring 30-minute deliveries to tens of millions of customers by the end of 2026.
Eligible items for Amazon Now include fresh groceries such as dairy, eggs, produce and baked goods, as well as electronics, health products, personal care items and alcohol. Prime members can get the expedited delivery for a discounted fee of $3.99 per order, while non-members are charged $13.99. Orders under $15 are subject to an additional $1.99 "small order fee" for Prime members, or $3.99 for non-members.
Amazon also launched one-hour and three-hour delivery options for U.S. customers in hundreds of cities in March. To support its faster delivery times, the company has been using a network of smaller fulfillment centers where products are stored based on local demand trends from customers in the area.
