The American Logistics Aid Network (ALAN) is accepting nominations for its 10th annual Humanitarian Logistics Awards, recognizing people and businesses who provide aid and comfort to communities in crisis.
Each year, ALAN hands out awards to logistics professionals, academics, organizations and departments across four categories: outstanding contribution to disaster relief, employee engagement, research/academic achievement, and lifetime achievement.
“Our industry is full of selfless people who go above and beyond to help before, during and after disasters – and thankfully so, because humanitarian relief couldn’t happen without the facilitation and support of the supply chain community,” said ALAN executive director Kathy Fulton. "These awards were created to shine a light on that generosity."
Nominations will remain open through June 30, with awards scheduled to be presented sometime in the fall. Any individual or company can nominate themselves, or they can be nominated by a third party. They can also be nominated for more than one category, but can only be named as a finalist in one.
ALAN was founded as a philanthropic organization in 2005 following Hurricane Katrina, and provides free logistics aid to disaster relief organizations before, during and after crises. Since then, it's helped coordinate supply chain services for hurricanes, wildfires, tornadoes and floods.
