DT Research, Inc. has developed the WebDT 400 series of ruggedized handheld devices for customer-service applications. Uses include mobile order taking, ticket scanning, payment processing and inventory management. The new line features a 4.3-inch display, with fully integrated magnetic stripe reader, radio frequency identification and barcode scanner. The point-of-service handhelds can be designated for specific applications and business processes. Their rugged design features an IP65 rating for liquid and dust resistance, making them especially suitable for use in commercial, outdoor, warehousing, healthcare and hospitality environments, the vendor said. The 400 series includes built-in remote management software. Its Device Manager simplifies the management of multiple devices. Customers can choose from two models: the 430, with a 4.3-inch LCD touch screen with outdoor-viewable display and virtual keyboard; and the 435, with 3.5-inch, high-resolution, outdoor-viewable LCD touch display with physical numeric keypad. Both models feature hot-swappable batteries that support up to eight hours of use. Other features include programmable buttons, wireless networking and Bluetooth connectivity.
