With the addition of six more sites, Owens Corning, a world leader in building materials systems and composite systems, has deployed Provia's ViaWare warehouse management solution at 33 facilities in eight countries.
"By deploying Provia's knowledge transfer methodology early on, we were able to go live with multiple sites with little or no assistance from Provia," says Barry Burnham, Owens Corning's project manager. "Through our in-depth knowledge of the system, we were able to make smarter logistics decisions throughout the implementation, which in turn, helped us accelerate our logistics processes and maintain a competitive advantage."
The 33 sites cover a range of divisions within the company, from the insulation to composites to the exterior vinyl divisions, with the most recent deployments taking place in Owens Corning's cultured stone facilities. In these facilities ViaWare enables warehouse operators to manage inventory while the manufactured stone veneer cures in the warehouse, preventing the risk of shipping uncured material. In addition, it helps to eliminate double handling and provides warehouse operators with the ability to easily manage stock rotation.
