AirBridgeCargo Airlines has extended its service network into Scandinavia, with the launching of a twice-weekly B747 freighter service from Sweden's Malmo-Sturup Airport to Sheremetyevo Airport in Moscow. Flights began in April, 2010. ABC said the route addition was in response to commitments of support from cargo customers in Scandinavia requiring regular capacity to Russia and on to the airline's destinations in China, Central Asia and Japan. In Sweden, ABC has appointed Sturup Aviation and Menzies Aviation as its ramp and cargo-handling partners. In another company announcement, ABC has added its fifth and sixth Boeing 747-400 freighters to the fleet in the span of less than two weeks. It now operates nine 747 freighters. The addition allows ABC to remove one of its 747-200Fs from the scheduled aircraft fleet and reserve it for charter operations. The latest aircraft is being leased from Air France. Russia's largest international cargo carrier, ABC is the scheduled cargo subsidiary of the Volga-Dnepr Group.
