The CMA CGA Group has launched its 12th ocean container service between Asia and Europe. The latest weekly service in the French Asia Line (FAL) network is designated FAL 5. Operated in partnership with Maersk Line, it will deploy 10 vessels, five from CMA CGM, of approximately 13,000 twenty-foot equivalent units. The service rotation is Ningbo, Shanghai, Yantian, Tanjung Pelepas, Port Kelang, Le Havre, Hamburg, Rotterdam, Zeebrugge, Port Kelang, Singapore and Ningbo. The new service will be operated under the "slow-steaming" principle, initiated to save on fuel consumption. The launching of FAL 5 comes just in time for the westbound peak season, CMA CGM noted. It will link up with a variety of in-house feeders, barges and rail services in Asia and Europe, giving shippers door-to-door transit.
