OHL, the logistics and supply-chain services provider, has become a member of the CargoNet program. Launched in January, 2010, the initiative provides a national information-sharing system to prevent cargo theft and help law enforcement to recover stolen cargo. OHL supports cargo theft-prevention councils throughout the U.S., according to John McNamee, director of risk management. He is an officer and board member of the Mid-South Cargo Security Council. CargoNet enables the sharing of secure information between theft victims, their business partners and law enforcement. It draws on a national database and information-sharing system managed by crime analysts and subject-matter experts. CargoNet also relies on a variety of anti-theft efforts, including a tractor and trailer theft deterrence program, the TruckStopWatch program, driver education and incentives, secondary market monitoring and interdictions, crime-trend analysis and loss-control systems, and training and education.
